Lower Cretaceous biostratigraphy of the Arc de Castellane (S.E. France). 1 : Ammonite faunas from the Late Valanginian and age of the "Grande Lumachelle horizon". Recent biostratigraphic work in Late Valanginian of the Arc de Castellane (Alpes de Haute-Provence, France) allows a revision of the age of the lithostratigraphic "formations" originaly defined by COTILLON (1971). The discovery of an ammonite rich bio-horizon at the top of the "Grande Lumachelle" sensu COTILLON (1971) drives us to refined correlations between the condensed sections of the Arc de Castellane and the Valanginian hypostratotype of Angles (Alpes de Haute-Provence, France).
